It's Grime, Not Hip Hop.

THE BRITS TOOK American hip hop and blended it with Caribbean and African sounds. They tossed in some other influences - London is nothing if not a clash of cultures from around the world. Now, they rap about life in the council estates (public housing) over drum n' bass beats mixed with garage sounds.

They call it grime.

Born in East London, the genre thrives - complete with it's own language and lifestyle. In West London, as in the video above, the sound has a completely different feel.
